Ofwel: de dominante populaire en egalitaire cultuur als verklaring voor de komst van het gedrocht, de ophef erover en het uitblijven van een goed alternatief. Middeleeuwse reisverslagen van bezoekers van dit land gaven al het beeld van een volk met weinig verfijning. Zo'n volk verdient niet beter dan een Koningslied van Borsato cs. Konden we maar oordelen over een klassiek stuk....
